D’Agostino’s Trattoria Celebrates a Grand First Year in Its Expanded Las Vegas Home
By Elaine and Scott Harris
One year ago, on November 11, 2025, we walked into D’Agostino’s Trattoria for its grand reopening — and what a night it was. Owners Dan and Brandi Thompson had closed for five months to expand, more than doubling the space and adding a full wine and cocktail bar. Now, one year on, the expanded trattoria is celebrating its grand first anniversary, and our reopening-night experience still captures exactly why this family restaurant matters so much to Las Vegas.
Local favorite D’Agostino’s has been family owned and run since it first opened. The restaurant is more than a place to eat; it is a gathering place, headed by husband-and-wife chef team Dan and Brandi Thompson. When their restaurant grew beyond expectations, the family faced a turning point: a brief closure for renovation that would honor the past while embracing the future.
The decision to close was not taken lightly. Yet the owners understood that to continue serving the same soul-satisfying meals — while also inviting new guests — the dining room needed space to breathe and a modern touch that wouldn’t erase its essence. So, with careful planning and a deep respect for tradition, they opened the doors again after a short hiatus, unveiling a refreshed interior that still hummed with the warmth of home.
Walking in with a who’s-who VIP list for the reopening celebration, we saw right away the renovation was more than cosmetic. The kitchen was reimagined to improve flow, ensuring that the same hands that stirred the marinara could do so with greater precision and care.
An expanded dining area has created a comfortable rhythm of tables where families can gather without feeling crowded. The centerpiece of the transformation, however, is the new cocktail bar and lounge — an addition that feels both contemporary and intimately connected to the restaurant’s Italian roots.
The cocktail bar celebrates bright, creative cocktails that accent the flavors of their menu. The lounge area, with its warm lighting and leather seating, invites guests to linger beyond dessert, to enjoy wonderful conversation and exemplary service.
Las Vegas Mayor Shelley Berkley presented a proclamation: “D’Agostino’s is not in the city of Las Vegas, but it is one of my favorite places. I can get whatever I want, from large steaks, seafood and, of course, pasta. No matter what I order, it is always fabulous! The new renovation is gorgeous.” The Mayor was followed by an emotional Dan Thompson: “If you are here tonight, you are family, extended family. From my family to all of you, thank you. If you are new, then welcome!”
This expansion is more than growth; it is a commitment. It isn’t just a restaurant that closed for renovation and reopened; it became a brighter chapter of a family story, inviting both long-term patrons and new friends to savor the enduring flavor of home.
One year later, that is still the story at D’Agostino’s — a family table that simply grew bigger. Happy first anniversary to Dan, Brandi, and the whole D’Agostino’s family.
