A Pie Crust Recipe Handed Down over Generations

Food is about history and history is about food. This recipe for Pie Crust has been passed down over generations in the Pennsylvania and Upstate New York area. Enjoy !

 

 

 

 

INGREDIENTS :

4 Cups Flour

2 Cups Shortening

2 Tbsp Sugar

2 Tbsp Salt

1 Tbsp Vineger

1 Egg

1/2 Cup Water

DIRECTIONS:

In a large bowl mix  the flour , shortening , sugar and salt. In a separate bowl beat in Vinegar , Egg and Water . Next , combine the two mixtures and mold into a ball. Chill for 15 Mins before rolling into shape.  You can also freeze the ball for availability anytime.

YIELD :

2  9 Inch pies with double crust
