Singapore Airlines Is Rolling Out New Amenities — Here’s What You’ll Actually Experience

Airlines announce makeovers the way restaurants announce new menus: everything sounds delicious, and the dates matter more than the adjectives. Singapore Airlines has spent this fall unveiling an “elevated travel experience” in chapters — new amenity kits, more than 100 new dishes, new wines, new serviceware — all ahead of a S$1.1 billion retrofit of 41 Airbus A350s. We read the fine print the way we read a wine list, because this February we fly them ourselves: premium economy from Los Angeles to Singapore, then on to Bangkok.

The good news is that the best of it doesn’t wait for new airplanes. Starting this month, on flights over six hours — our Los Angeles–Singapore leg runs nearly eighteen — the new soft touches arrive on today’s aircraft. Premium economy gets a fresh amenity pouch in the airline’s batik motif, made from recycled materials, with a white tea lip balm from INK & WATER made exclusively for Singapore Airlines. Business class gets sleeper suits for the first time in the airline’s history, plus BYREDO kits. The front cabins get SISLEY.

The dining chapter is the one we read twice. Under a new SIA Chefs’ Selection, more than 100 dishes are rolling out across every cabin — beef short rib sambal percik with nasi kerabu, char siew wonton noodle, a fusion harmony rojak — created with guest chefs from Monica Galetti to Yoshihiro Murata. Premium economy now pours Champagne Victoire Brut Prestige. Book the Cook, happily, stays. And up front, meals arrive on serviceware Christofle designed for the airline, batik motif and all.

The hardware is the slower story. The retrofit brings all-new first and business class seats — and a first class cabin to the ultra-long-range A350s for the very first time — plus a next-generation KrisWorld with 4K screens, more than 2,500 entertainment options and films that resume where you left off on your last flight, and Starlink Wi-Fi rolling out from early 2027. But supply chains have pushed the first retrofitted jet to early 2027, and the ultra-long-range fleet has no confirmed date — so February travelers shouldn’t book expecting the new seats.

What we’ll actually get in February is arguably the point: the new dishes, the new champagne, the new kit — and unlimited free Wi-Fi, provided a KrisFlyer number is on the booking (membership is free, and it covers premium economy and economy alike). Singapore Airlines unveils the full experience in Singapore this month. We’ll report from the cabin in February — glass in hand.
