Deep and high into Red Rock Canyon with a BLM ranger — our favorite way to explore out here. 🥾
Wild burros joined the hike, and along the way we came across artifacts close to 100 years old — including the remains of a vintage car slowly returning to the desert. The history layered into this landscape never stops surprising us.

Three hours on the trail to Fossil Ridge — and worth every step. 🐚
Long before Red Rock Canyon was desert, it was the floor of a tropical sea. The fossils in these rocks are some 250 million years old — sea life from a world that existed way before the dinosaurs.
Standing in the Mojave sun, reading an ancient ocean floor in stone. Not a bad morning, 30 minutes from the Strip.

Our stay at Death Valley Hot Springs came with front-row seats to the sky`s best show — a sunset that set the whole horizon on fire, pink skies over the palms, and a rainbow stretched clear across the valley after the rain.
This corner of the Mojave never does anything halfway.
