Chef Carlos Enriquez to host “5weet & savory” THE FIVE BASIC TASTES (SWEET, SALTY, SOUR, BITTER AND UMAMI) ALL COME TOGETHER AT “5WEET & SAVORY” 5 PASTRY CHEFS, 5 SAVORY COURSES, 5 DESSERTS

BREADBAR CENTURY CITY AND CHEFS RAMON PEREZ AND CARLOS ENRIQUEZ PARTNER IN HOSTING THE FIRST “5WEET & SAVORY” CHARITY DINNER IN SUPPORT OF SHARE OUR STRENGTH: NO KID HUNGRY

On Thursday, March 22, 2012, BREADBAR Century City and celebrated Pastry Chefs Ramon Perez and Carlos Enriquez will partner with the SHARE OUR STRENGTH foundation to organize a special charitable dinner event.

Pastry Chefs have always been the red headed step child of the culinary industry. Always fighting for a small space in the kitchen, protecting their equipment with rolling pin in hand from the likes of onion, garlic, fish etc…..but now renowned Pastry Chef’s Ramon Perez and Carlos Enriquez along with a selected group of the top pastry chefs in the LA area will embrace the savory side to prove that they can also cook and not just bake.

This is the concept behind the dinner, Chef Ramon and Carlos plan to host a series of pop up dinners where they will invite some of the country’s top pastry chefs to join them every time they do a pop up dinner. They each will do a savory course and a dessert course, each savory course will have at least one “sweet” element and each dessert course will have at least one “savory” element. 5 pastry chefs, 5 savory courses and 5 dessert courses.

 

 

 

The BREADBAR will host some of the city’s most renowned pastry chefs including David Rodriguez (Providence), Waylynn Lucas (Fonuts) and Kei Hasegawa (Matsuhisa) who will partner with the event’s hosts, Ramon Perez (Puur Chocolat) and Carlos Enriquez (Top Chef Just Desserts) to create a special 10-course “5WEET & SAVORY” tasting menu. As a special guest Master Mixologist Devon Espinosa (Pour Vous) will be offering and pairing some of his signature cocktails throughout the evening.

Guests will  enjoy  a Cocktail reception from 6:30 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. and then  a mouthwatering    Dinner promptly at 7:00 p.m.  The 10 course tasting menu is $95+ per person (not including tax or gratuity) and optional wine and cocktail pairings will be  available for an additional fee.
